My favorite Brigham Young story...
A woman once wrote to Brigham Young: "President Young, my husband told me to go to hell.  What should I do?"

Brigham Young wrote back and said:  "Dear Sister, Don't go."

A great story about Elder LeGrand Richards...
a woman who came to President Young. She said, “My husband just told me to go to hell. What should I do?”
Brigham Young responded. “Don’t go.”

Elder LeGrand Richards had his leg amputated due to diabetes. During his stay in the hospital, his son came to visit. During this visit, Elder Richards son asked his father if he thought it was his time to die. (As you might imagine, this was a very trying time for his family). Elder Richards replied:  “Oh I’m not ready to go anywhere yet… if the Lord wants me he is going to have to take me piece by piece.”

Soon after he returned from the hospital, Elder Richards was able to return to his priesthood responsibilities. In the Church office building, his secretary saw him approaching and asked how he was doing.  Elder Richards replied, “To be honest with you sister, I'm on my last leg.”

Elder Richards later said this about the experience of having lost his leg:

“I could live better without the limbs of my body than I could without the testimony of the Holy Ghost and the Spirit of the Lord.”

My Favorite Hugh Nibley Quote...
For those of you who are familiar with Hugh Nibley's writings, you know how sarcastic and clever he can be.  On one occasion, for example, he said of those who are constantly trying to disprove the Book of Mormon scientifically:

"The normal way of dealing with the Book of Mormon "scientifically" has been first to attribute to the Book of Mormon something it did not say, and then to refute the claim by scientific statements that have not been proven. A good example of this is the constant attempt to blast the Book of Mormon by assuming that it allows only one possible origin for the blood of the Indians (a perfectly false assumption), and then pointing out that the real origin is a migration via the Alaskan land-bridge or Bering Straits—a still unproven hypothesis" (Nibley, Since Cumorah, p. 214-15).

My Favorite Saturday Night Live Moment

This last video is from one of my favorite SNL moments.  It is a Bible trivia game show featuring Norm MacDonald. While this skit is considered clean for SNL standards, some of it's content may be offensive to some LDS audiences.  With that said, there is nothing in this video that is too offensive, otherwise I would not have posted it on my site.  So enjoy this video at your own discretion.
